The Trains
Merida has a serious freight rail switching and rail storage location near our house on Calle 52 in the Centro. Recently the decision was made to relocate the hub outside of the city and to turn the former 60 acre train yard into a grand central city park. Projects like this are never certain until they actually exist but it appears that it is still in process, if a bit scaled back in scope.
Before the transformation began I was able to wander around the salvage yard and take these photos. Since the work on the park began six months ago I have not been able to get back for more photos but I am happy that I was able to record a bit of it before it disappeared.
